The City of Lebanon announced on Apr. 10 that work is ongoing at Atchley Park, where several projects are underway to improve park facilities and support increased use by the community.
Recent progress includes the addition of new pickleball courts, continued site work, and upgrades to park infrastructure. Construction is also advancing on updated restroom and concession facilities designed to better serve visitors during games and events.
“There’s a lot happening out there right now,” said Parks Director John Shelton. “Some of it is easy to see, like new courts and construction, and some of it is the behind-the-scenes work that helps everything function the way it should.”
Current projects build on improvements completed over the past five years at Atchley Park. These have included renovations to the baseball concession stand with restrooms, installation of new bleachers and shade structures, expanded recreational amenities such as additional disc golf holes and basketball courts, playground updates for accessibility, parking lot enhancements with traffic flow changes, drainage improvements for water retention, LED field lighting upgrades, and a weather alert system for safety.
Shelton said much of this work has focused on long-term infrastructure that supports growing numbers of visitors each season. “A lot of the most important improvements are things people don’t immediately see,” he said. “We’ve focused on making sure the park can handle busy nights, tournaments, and daily use without issues.”
As participation in local programs continues to grow in Lebanon, these upgrades aim to ensure Atchley Park remains a reliable space for families and athletes. “We’re seeing more activity across the board,” Shelton said. “These improvements are about keeping up with how the community is using the park today.”
The City plans to share further updates as current projects move toward completion.
