Baseball Falls to Ouachita in Doubleheader

ADA, Okla. –  The East Central University baseball team fell to Ouachita Baptist University in both games of the Saturday doubleheader at Ken Turner Field.
 
Ouachita got the scoring going in game one of the doubleheader for an early 2-0 lead after the first.
 
ECU got a run in the second after Michael Rosario’s double to left field sent Dawerlyn Amancio across home plate to cut the deficit 2-1, but Ouachita would quickly answer back.
 
The purple Tigers added three runs in the third, one in the fourth, one in the sixth, and four in the ninth to bring out the final score of 11-1.
 
Carson Thomas took the loss, going 3.2 innings and giving up six runs on six hits. Bryan Terry came in relief, pitching 5.1 innings while allowing five runs on six hits.
 
Christian Whitaker led with two hits, and Tanner Collins, Dawerlyn Amancio, and Michael Rosario had one hit each.
 
In game two, Ouachita opened up the game immediately, plating seven runs on seven hits to put ECU in a hole early.
 
The orange and black Tigers added a run in the home half when Amancio’s single drove in Duncan Key and another in the fifth after Nolan Herchock’s single sent home Nick Blankenship, but Ouachita would eventually tab seven more runs to set the final score of 14-2.
 
Bryce Crawford took the loss allowing five runs on four hits. Other Tigers to see action on the mound include Kaleb Dent, Chris Jackson, and Price Daube.
 
Christian Whitaker led the offense going 4-for-4, while Dawerlyn Amancio was next with two hits. Nolan Herchock, Michael Rosario, and Nick Blankenship each had one hit.
 
The East Central University baseball team will be back in action on Tuesday with a single game against Southeastern Oklahoma State University at 3 p.m. in Durant.
