Kansas City Chiefs Ambassador and former NFL player Bill Maas will serve as honorary chair of the HK’s Lake of the Ozarks Open Golf Tournament, according to a March 25 announcement. The annual event is scheduled for June 7 and 8 and will benefit heart care services at Lake Regional Health System.
The tournament aims to raise funds for advanced cardiac care equipment, helping ensure residents and visitors have continuous access to lifesaving treatment for heart attacks. Organizers say proceeds from this year’s event will support the purchase of the Philips Azurion 7 Series imaging system for the hospital’s Cardiac Catheterization Lab.
Maas played as a defensive tackle in the National Football League after being selected in the first round by the Kansas City Chiefs. He was named Associated Press Defensive Rookie of the Year in 1984 and earned Pro Bowl selections in both 1986 and 1987. In December 2025, he was inducted into the Kansas City Chiefs Hall of Fame.
“Bill Maas is the kind of leader and competitor who embodies the spirit of this tournament,” said Mark Brown, HK’s co-chair. “His accomplishments on the field and his continued connection to the game as a Chiefs Ambassador make him an incredible addition to this year’s event. We’re honored to have him join us in supporting such an important cause.”
The two-day event begins with HK’s Benefit Party on Sunday evening at The Lodge of Four Seasons Campana Hall, featuring live entertainment, auctions, and opportunities to meet sports celebrities. The golf tournament itself takes place Monday at The Club at Porto Cima, with registration limited to 120 players. Participants receive breakfast, lunch, refreshments, entry into contests, gifts, and admission to Sunday night’s party.
Sponsorships are available ranging from title sponsorships with VIP benefits to hole sponsorships with tee box signage. More information about registration or sponsorship can be found at HKs.GiveSmart.com.
