The Lebanon Fire Department announced on March 17 that it will hold a free Car Seat Safety Event on Saturday, March 28, from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the King Cash Saver parking lot.

The event aims to help parents and caregivers ensure their children are traveling safely by providing hands-on assistance with car seat installation and guidance on selecting the right seat for each child. Certified car seat technicians will be available to check existing setups and answer questions about proper use.

According to the Lebanon Fire Department, using a child car seat correctly can reduce fatal injury by 82 percent compared to using only a seat belt. However, nearly 70 percent of car seats are installed incorrectly, and many children are moved to booster seats or regular seat belts too soon.

“Our goal is to make sure every child in our community is as safe as possible while riding in a vehicle,” said Lebanon Fire Department officials. “Even small adjustments can make a life-saving difference.”

A limited number of free car seats will be provided for families in need while supplies last. The event is open to the public and does not require an appointment.
