WEATHERFORD, Okla. -  The East Central University baseball team traveled to Weatherford, Oklahoma for a road GAC series against Southwestern Oklahoma State University, coming up short 13-8 in Friday's opening game.

SWOSU got the scoring going in the second inning when they scored four runs on three hits and one Tiger error to take an early 4-0 lead.

The Bulldogs tabbed another run in the third to go up 5-0 before the Tigers exploded in the top of the fourth to close the SOWSU gap.

Mason Glowacki was hit by pitch, Christian Whitaker walked, then Nolan Herchock singled up the middle to plate Glowacki for the first run. Dawerlyn Amancio followed with a sac fly to drive in Whitacker, then a single from Duncan Key brought Herchock home. Nick Blankenship continued the hitting with a single to left field that allowed Key to cross home plate and put the Tigers right back in the game trailing 5-4.

The Bulldogs responded by adding one run in the home half of the fourth and fifth to extend their lead to 7-4.

The Tigers cut the lead to 7-5 in the top of the sixth after Amancio homered, but the Bulldogs answered back again with three more runs for a 10-5 advantage.

ECU refused to lay down in the seventh and came up with three runs when Amancio's double to right center cleared the bases, scoring Kyle Busker, Mason Glowacki, and Christian Whitaker to bring the score to 10-8.

However, the Bulldogs caused more damage in the home half of the seventh, picking up three more runs to close the game with a final score of 13-8.

ECU starting pitcher Bryan Terry took the loss, pitching 1 2/3 innings and giving up four runs on four hits.

Other pitchers to see action on the mound include Ian Mason, Chris Jackson, Jared Leroux, and Bryce Crawford.

Carson Thomas, Duncan Key, and Dawerlyn Amancio led with two hits apiece, with Amancio adding 5 RBI's as well.

Mason Glowacki, Nolan Herchock, Tanner Collins, and Nick Blankenship each had one hit.

The East Central University baseball team will conclude the series with SWOSU with a doubleheader Saturday, March 11 starting at 12 p.m.
