Census Bureau: 5% of people in Phelps County identified as multiracial in 2021

Of the 44,692 citizens living in Phelps County in 2021, 95% said they were only one race, while 5% said they were two or more races, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained in June.

The most prevalent racial group among citizens in Phelps County who reported being of a single race in 2021 was white, comprising 88.6% or 39,604 individuals. Following them, Asian accounted for 3.4% and totaled 1,511 individuals.

The percentage of multiracial residents in Phelps County is 0.4% higher than the state average, which stands at 4.6%.
