Washington, D.C. – Congressmen Mark Alford and Jim Costa have introduced bipartisan legislation to officially recognize March 19th as National Agriculture Day. The resolution, supported by 59 co-sponsors, aims to honor the significant contributions of the agriculture industry to the nation.

Congressman Alford highlighted the hard work and dedication of those in the agriculture sector, stating, “The men and women that represent the agriculture industry work 365 days a year, sunup to sundown, to feed, clothe, and fuel the world." He emphasized the importance of celebrating their efforts, noting that without farmers and agriculturists, the world would not be as it is today. Alford expressed pride in the bipartisan effort to establish National Agriculture Day officially.

Congressman Jim Costa echoed Alford's sentiments, emphasizing the critical role of agriculture in national security and the economy. Costa, representing the agricultural powerhouse of the San Joaquin Valley, stressed the significance of recognizing the contributions of farmers, ranchers, and dairymen and women to the agricultural economy.

Chairman Glenn “GT” Thompson, emphasizing the essential nature of the agriculture industry, stated, "America’s producers are the backbone of our nation. They work tirelessly 365 days a year to provide food, fuel, and fiber to consumers at home and abroad." National Agriculture Day serves as a reminder of the industry's impact on everyday life.
