Washington, DC – Congressman Alford and Chairman Roger Williams, along with six of their colleagues, have penned a letter to the Small Business Administration (SBA) raising concerns about the agency's return-to-work policy. The letter, as reported by Washington Examiner, addressed various key points including the SBA's action plan on returning to work, telework statistics, office space costs, and past communications.

The letter, co-signed by Representatives Blaine Luetkemeyer, Pete Stauber, Dan Meuser, Beth Van Duyne, Jake Ellzey, and Aaron Bean, highlighted the need for transparency and accountability within the SBA regarding its operations.

Congressman Alford emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating, "It’s long past time to get Washington back to work for Main Street. Administrator Guzman owes the public an explanation why she is requesting $42,000,000 for a nearly empty building. I sincerely hope that Administrator Guzman shares her action plan on getting the SBA back to work for America’s 33 million small businesses."

Chairman Williams echoed these sentiments, underscoring the importance of the SBA fulfilling its mission to assist small businesses effectively. He stated, "The COVID-19 pandemic is over and done with, and it’s past time the SBA return to work fully...Our small business owners don’t have the luxury to work from home, and the SBA should be marching to the same tune."

The representatives are seeking clarity on the SBA's plans for returning to in-person work, especially considering the significant budget allocation for office space amidst widespread telework. They are also requesting information on employee telework habits and adherence to office attendance guidelines.
