U.S. Congressman Mark Alford from Missouri's 4th District has issued a statement marking the first anniversary of the terrorist attack on Israel by Hamas, which resulted in over 1,200 deaths and was noted as the deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust. The attack also involved Iran-backed Hamas terrorists taking more than 200 hostages, including American citizens.

Congressman Alford expressed his sentiments stating, "We were sickened by the devastating attack on Israel by the Iran-backed terrorist group Hamas one year ago. These vicious terrorists butchered innocent people, murdering men, women, and children. The horrors are nothing short of heartbreaking." He emphasized that "One year later, the people of Israel are still living October 7th every single day."

Alford further reaffirmed America's commitment to Israel saying, "On this solemn day, we reaffirm America’s commitment to our great ally Israel. We must stand shoulder-to-shoulder with them in this fight and ensure that they have the time, space, and resources needed to wipe out Hamas."

Recently, Congressman Alford released a video documenting his trip to Israel in April 2024. The video features firsthand accounts from U.S. Representatives Derrick Van Orden and Celeste Maloy as well as Asher Afriat from the American Israel Education Foundation ("AIEF"). It concludes with remarks from Rachel Goldberg-Polin whose son was taken hostage by Hamas.

Congressman Alford plans another visit to Israel later this month where he intends to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
