Congressman Mark Alford has expressed his condolences following the death of former President Jimmy Carter. The 39th President of the United States passed away at the age of 100. In a statement, Alford acknowledged Carter's significant contributions both during and after his presidency.
"I was saddened to hear the news today of the passing of President Jimmy Carter at the age of 100. President Carter led an extraordinary life, rising from humble beginnings in Plains, Georgia, to serve as the 39th President of the United States," said Alford.
Carter's post-presidential years were marked by his dedication to humanitarian causes. "After leaving office, President Carter's commitment to service grew even stronger. His humanitarian work with organizations like Habitat for Humanity, where he personally helped build homes for families in need, brought hope and shelter to countless Americans; and his efforts to help ensure integrity to democratic nations left a positive impact on the world," Alford noted.
Carter was also recognized for his deep religious faith and community involvement. "President Carter’s life was deeply rooted in his faith in Jesus Christ, which he shared openly by teaching Sunday school into his later years," stated Alford. He described Carter as "a loyal husband, a dedicated family man, and a servant leader who inspired others through his actions."
Alford concluded by reflecting on Carter's legacy: "His faith, compassion, and tireless dedication to service have left an indelible mark on our nation’s history. May he rest in peace."
