Representatives Mark Alford, J. Luis Correa, Tracey Mann, and Brittany Pettersen have announced the relaunch of the Bipartisan Congressional Real Estate Caucus. The caucus was re-established in the 118th Congress after being inactive for several years and now includes over 50 members.
The real estate sector is a significant contributor to the U.S. economy, accounting for 16% of GDP, supporting 2.8 million jobs, and generating $50 billion in tax revenue. The caucus aims to promote policies that support this vital industry.
Congressman Mark Alford expressed his commitment to addressing housing issues as a Co-Chair of the caucus: “I am proud to serve as a Co-Chair of the Real Estate Caucus... I’m honored to be able to chair this Caucus and work together to solve Real Estate and housing issues.”
The caucus receives backing from various organizations including the National Association of Realtors (NAR), National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC), National Apartment Association (NAA), among others.
Congressman J. Luis Correa highlighted the importance of homeownership: “Homeownership is the heart of the American Dream... We need to make sure we keep home ownership accessible to all Americans."
Congressman Tracey Mann emphasized reducing regulatory burdens: “Real estate businesses... should be empowered... Unfortunately, heavy handed regulations from the federal government and rising costs have made the environment more challenging."
Congresswoman Brittany Pettersen pointed out challenges in accessing homeownership: “Owning a home is a central part of the American Dream... it’s become out of reach for far too many people."
