Lake Regional Health System has recognized Brad Johnson, R.N., with a DAISY Award for his exceptional service as a night nurse at the Lake Regional Skilled Nursing Facility. Johnson resides in Sunrise Beach and is known for his dedication to patient care.
“The DAISY award celebrates nurses for exceptionally compassionate care,” stated Melissa Hunter, R.N., MSN, chief operating officer/chief nursing officer. “Brad’s nomination demonstrates how a nurse’s connection with a patient helps with healing and recovery. We congratulate Brad on receiving this honor.”
The nomination for Johnson was submitted by Ann Emry, one of his patients, who praised his “skill, positive attitude, professional care, sense of humor and patience.” During a surprise presentation on February 14th, Emry expressed her gratitude: “Being away from home and being anxious about your health and recovery isn’t easy, especially at age 80,” she wrote. She highlighted Johnson's efforts in maintaining her positive outlook through regular updates on her progress and thorough explanations of medical procedures. Emry added that Johnson’s “genuine concern” played a significant role in her healing process.
Lake Regional awards DAISY Awards throughout the year to licensed nurses who exhibit compassionate care within their hospital or clinics. Nominations can be made via their website at lakeregional.com/DAISY.
The DAISY Foundation was created in memory of J. Patrick Barnes by his family after he passed away at 33 due to complications from Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), an autoimmune disease. The foundation aims to honor nurses who make significant impacts on their patients' lives.
