Lake Regional Health System is set to host its 16th Annual Fun Run and Honor Walk on May 3. The event aims to celebrate local heart patients and generate funds for the hospital's round-the-clock heart program. Participants can register at lakeregional.com/FunRun until April 18 to receive a race T-shirt.

This year, the event will take place at a new location, Parkway Center in Osage Beach. For the first time, participants have the option to choose between a 5K or a 10K run. Jody Corpe, manager of Lake Regional Cardiopulmonary Rehab, stated, “Our Fun Run always has an encouraging atmosphere that makes it a perfect race for beginners.” She added that completing either race would provide participants with "a huge sense of accomplishment."

In addition to the races, Lake Regional is collaborating with Sneakers4Good to collect gently used sneakers during the event. The collected shoes will be recycled, with part of the proceeds going towards supporting local heart care.

The registration fee for the 5K is $35 and $50 for the 10K, both including breakfast. Fees will increase by $5 on race day. While no registration is needed for those participating in the Honor Walk, individuals who wish to receive a T-shirt must register.

Participants also have an opportunity to become fundraisers by selecting the “Become a Fundraiser” option on the registration website. This allows them to create personalized fundraising pages where others can contribute in honor of their participation.
