Today, Congressman Mark Alford convened a roundtable in Fayette, Missouri, with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and local small businesses. The focus was on extending and enhancing the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act to support economic recovery, job growth, and international competitiveness for American businesses.

Congressman Alford stated, “The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act unleashed a period of expansive economic growth and domestic investment, which led to far-reaching wage increases and job creation.” He emphasized the need for action from Congress to prevent negative impacts on small businesses and their workers. He also expressed gratitude to the U.S. Chamber for facilitating the discussion.

The event took place at Missouri Pacific Lumber in Fayette. Panelists stressed the importance of making provisions like the 20 percent small business deduction permanent to help Missouri’s small businesses continue thriving.

Rodney Davis from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce commented, “The U.S. Chamber thanks Congressman Alford for working tirelessly for his community... Americans want growth, and by taking the tax reform conversation outside Washington, D.C., Congressman Alford is once again demonstrating his commitment.”

Missouri Pacific Lumber President Bucky Pescaglia said, “I want to thank the congressman for coming... Renewal of the tax cuts are extremely important to every small business.”

Participants included representatives from Addison Biological Laboratory, Downtown Fayette, Commercial Trust Company, Missouri Forest Products Association, and others.
