Today, Congressman Mark Alford of Missouri's 4th District voted in favor of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2025. As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, Alford emphasized the importance of focusing on military readiness and strength amidst global threats.
Alford stated, "As global threats intensify, we need a military laser-focused on lethality, readiness, and strength — not distracted by divisive woke ideologies." He highlighted that the NDAA includes strategic investments to counter adversaries while supporting servicemembers and their families. Key provisions include a 14.5% pay raise for junior enlisted servicemembers, expanded National Guard support for Border Patrol operations at the southern border, elimination of certain diversity initiatives, and measures to strengthen defense in the Indo-Pacific region.
The NDAA also secures funding specifically for Missouri’s 4th District. This includes continued funding for stealth bombers at Whiteman Air Force Base and investments in training infrastructure at Fort Leonard Wood. A total of $139.5 million is allocated for fueling facilities and advanced individual training barracks at both locations.
Congressman Alford remarked, "This NDAA reflects the priorities of the hardworking people of Missouri’s 4th District, who value a strong national defense and respect for taxpayer dollars." He expressed pride in supporting legislation prioritizing America's safety and security.
The FY25 NDAA aims to maintain America’s military as a leading force globally while addressing the needs of servicemembers and their families.
